Kozmice lies in the Hlučínsko region of Opava District, about 3 km from Hlučín and 11 km from Ostrava. The village's first written record dates to 1349.

St Florian's Church on Rušná Street was built between 1934 and 1936 and consecrated in October 1936. The Kolečkův mlýn on Poručíka Hoši Street began as a water mill in 1845 and has also served as a small hydroelectric plant since 1997.
